Guides and Rangers Thursday 7.30-9.30 pm
The 14th Bangor Guides re-opened in September 2010. Since then we have had up to 27 girls with an age range of P7–Year 10. We do all sorts of activities, outdoors whenever possible. We bake all things sweet, do quizzes, learn about the world around us, complete interest badges and themes following the new Girlguiding programme, do all sorts of crafts, fund-raising and, of course, do fun activities such as ziplining, archery, raft building, abseiling and bushcraft at Lorne. Our trips include going to the Christmas Panto in Belfast, and ice hockey games, and we try to camp annually at Lorne.
In Rangers the girls, aged 14-18, can take on a vast array of awards and qualifications which range from our Leadership Qualification to the Duke of Edinburgh Award. It’s also a place where girls can feel comfortable in talking openly about any worries or issues they may have, such as body confidence and mental well-being. We organise regular residential weekends at Lorne and take part in outdoor activities such as ziplining and abseiling. We also enjoy crafts, cooking, interest badges and themes following the new Girlguiding programme and fund-raising.
Kids’ Club Friday 7.00-8.15pm (Fourth Friday, Every Month)
Kids’ Club is a Bible-based junior youth club for kids in school years P1 to P6 which runs September to March on the last Friday of the month (unless otherwise listed). Club nights are packed with fun and excitement and include lots of high energy games, crafts, quizzes, stories, food and a bag of tuck to take home.
There is a different Bible story theme carried through the game and craft activities each night and once the noise levels are brought under control, a short story for the night is delivered in many imaginative ways.
Youth Fellowship FRIDAY 7.30-9.30pm
For teenagers aged 12+ youth fellowship meets informally in one of the homes of one of the leaders. There is a usually a Bible-based DVD, time to talk things through and supper. There are also opportunities for outdoor activities.
Bally-drophan TUESDAY 7.00-8.30 pm
Bally-drophan meets weekly for kids from P7 to Year 12. Everyone comes together for some games and activities for boys and girls before we listen to one of the leaders giving a short talk on the gospel. And, of course, there’s always food!
